The Season So Far

Well it has been a couple of weeks since the last post and much has changed in the world of College Football. Lets start with the things we do know at this point in the season.
  • ECU was a fluke, I hate to say it but 3 straight sub par to awful games can't be ignored.
  • Much to the dismay of Mike in our class, Tennessee is a disaster this season and that probably wont change by the end of the season.
  • The USC Trojans are human, in fact very human to the point of being dismantled straight up with no fluke or trick plays even needed.
  • The Sooners and Missouri look down right unbeatable at this point in the season, its a shame they will have to play before the National Championship because they might really be the two best teams in the country.
  • However a team from the SEC might have something to say about it, the question is which one will survive to say it.
  • The ACC isn't as terrible as people thought but they also aren't an elite conference this year, if teams could find consistency they could compete with some of the big boys.
  • The last thing we do know for sure this year is that the Big East (Least) might be the worst BCS conference to date, no one out of that conference even deserves a chance at a BCS bowl but yet they will get one automatically. Hey UNC would be the best team in that conference, they have trampled 2 of the top 4 teams.

Things we don't know

  • Will ECU be able to right their Pirate ship and set sail again or will they continue to be boarded every week.
  • The SEC is good, but which is it, out of this world defense or horrific offense. I think it is a little bit of both. Really good defense, not amazing though, and the worst group of offenses and quarterbacks on the east coast. The SEC is lucky they don't play some of these other conferences week in and week out because they could not sustain the offensive pace every week regardless of their defensive performance. Lucky for them they get to hide in conference play and beat each other up literally.
  • How good is Texas? I guess we will find out next week in the Red River Shootout.
  • Which is better SEC or Big XII? I propose the Big XII at the top but the SEC from top to bottom. There are more national title caliber teams in the BIG XII though. We will see how it all plays out.
  • Is UNC for real?

Well that concludes this weeks topics and thoughts. I would love to hear some feedback and opinions about the college football season so far.

That is a pretty good run down of the college season so far. Oklahoma particularly looks like a Beast. I'm not sure I agree with some of the later points on the SEC though.

Like you, I don't think some of the offenses are where they need to be but it's been pretty clear at least since the 2000's that their teams overall speed and defense usually make them better than most teams across the country.
