And We Make The Turn

At this point in the season it is now time for every team in the country to start making the turn down the home stretch. Most of the non conference games are out of the way and only meaningful conference games remain. For a team like ECU this is a good thing because C-USA isn't that good of a conference and they can match up athletically unlike the past couple of games against ACC opponents. After Texas destroyed Missouri last night I don't think there is any question who is the best team in the country. However, I do like Alabama's big game potential. I think they can rise up and beat Texas if they ever get a chance to play each other in the National Championship. They both have to remain undefeated or only have one loss and win their conference championship game for that to happen, which is gong to be tough.

UNC is for real and really unlucky. Injuries are the only thing keeping that team from an undefeated season so far and probably for the year based on their schedule. What a season it could have been in Chapel Hill, one of their best ever but they were bitten by the injury bug. Say what you want about excuses, injuries are unlucky and they do change the season. Texas without Colt McCoy and Cosby, not much are they. Oklahoma without Bradford and Iglecias, not much either, still good teams but not elite teams. UNC actually had a shot to be right outside the elite team category by the end of the year with Yates and Tate still in there, not anymore. ( I am not suggesting they would have been an ELITE team this year but approaching that threshold) Oh well it will still be a good season for the Tar Heels, at least good enough to keep the fans happy until their near NBA team takes the court this winter.

It will certainly be an intersting second half. Since Tennessee is long gone, I can just sit back and watch the action. I hope 1 SEC team makes the title game, but I am not sure what team is the best. I also hope Tennesse gets rid of Fulmer, but that's another story. I think ECU will hang in there and be bowling.

College football is a funny business for fans. Every year fans are disappointed when their teams lose but in the end only one team will win it all. The tournament that is college football is exciting and because you are dealing with young athletes you truly never know what is going to happen.

Texas looks like the team to beat but they may end up losing 3 games easy. I know that somehow USC will end up in the championship game even though they are the only top 25 team from the Pac-10. I just hope it is not another Ohio State beat down. Go Vols.

College football has had an interesting season, which goes to state that the better team on that day will win. But we are at the mid point right now of college football and this is when the grind comes into play.
