Hi, my name is Kenneth Weston and I am new to this blogging thing. The topic of my blog every week will be on college football. This blog will cover all aspects of college football. After sitting through an amazing game against West Virginia I really couldn't think of a better or more exciting topic right now especially for this area and University.
My first actual topic involves the game this past weekend, but the topic is not about the game rather what happened after the game. At the conclusion of the game thousands of people desired the opportunity to descend upon the field in jubilant celebration. Not surprising was the 3rd battalion from the National Guard with reinforcements called back from Iraq waiting for them at the edge of the field. Someone could have robbed Greenville blind because every available law enforcement officer seemed to be there with the sole intent of preventing people from celebrating and enjoying one the the Universities biggest wins EVER. When the thousands finally broke through and gained access to the field some officers took it upon themselves to beat, bruise, cuff, assault, abuse and ultimately use unnecessary and disturbing force. The officers were in no danger, people were not there to attack them, they were there to celebrate with friends and fellow fans. Their presence on the field only made matters worse. I understand both sides of the coin in this event but they were not going to prevent thousands of people from getting on that field so why pick out an innocent few and make pointless, meaningless, violent examples of them that I hope cost those officers their job or at least keep them from ever participating in an event like that again. For those few faithful fans lawsuit, lawsuit, lawsuit, the behavior of those officers were unacceptable and completely embarrassing to the University. After all they were there to prevent injuries not inflict them.
Let me know if any of you watched this occur or if you have any thoughts or feelings towards this incident I would love to hear them.

Hi Kenneth,
I'm one of your classmates and although I'm not really a huge football fan, I have recently found myself following ECU football. It looks like they are in for a fantastic season. After all, they have pulled out two recent wins with less than 2 minutes on the clock. If that's not exciting, I don't know what is! Keep up the good work!
I thought ECU was going to blow it against Tulane on Saturday. Sometimes a team needs a tough game like that to regain their focus. I still like their chances to go undefeated. I will certainly be watching how the rest of the season goes.
I do not understand the lack of coverage on the ECU beatdown of its own students after the game either. I understand that any story related to the violent after-math of the ECU-WVU game would have no positive side for any involved but we as a community cannot let this just go away. I am sure there will be a few lawsuits but I would like to know what these officers/soldiers were instructed to do. Did someone tell these guys to stop the students at any cost or did the officers act on their own? Regardless, this was a sad ending to an otherwise great day for ECU.
